How do you pop the trunk of a 1998 mercedes c230 when it is locked and battery is dead valet key doesn't do it you can't open trunk to even charge battery? |

[Edit]
I put my car in storage once and disconnected the battery then closed the trunk. With no power, I was unable to open the trunk, even with the key. You only have to "power" the circuit the remote trunk release is on in order for it to work. Under the hood on the left hand side is a fuse box. Fuse number 7 is for the remote trunk release, this is what you have to power. Put the negative terminal from an external 12 volt battery to bare metal to ground car and insert the positive cable into one side of the pulled fuse #7. The remote trunk release switch inside the car should now work.
- Additionally: It's actually MUCH simpler than that, I just went through several Mercedes technicians and finally got the answer that I needed.
When using your valet key to open the trunk if the battery is dead, you simple insert the key, turn all the way to the left, and THEN push down with your key. If you don't do it in this order (ie push down and then turn left) it won't work.
