Well, the first thing to do is check the audition requirements and see what you will need to perform at the audition. Most auditions require you to sing at least 16 bars (musical measures) of a memorized song; depending on the show, some directors might specify a certain type of song, but if not, try and sing something similar to the type of music in the show. Don't sing a song from the show unless the director asks for it.

Even "bad singers" usually have a vocal range in which they feel comfortable. If you are more comfortable with lower notes, you should look for alto (if you're a girl) or bass (if you're a guy) songs. If you prefer higher notes, look for soprano (girl) or tenor (guy) songs. If you have trouble finding a song, Google usually provides tons of ideas. If you need a backtrack, check for Karaoke tracks on iTunes. Or, if you can get sheet music, see if there will be a pianist to play for you at your audition.

The key to being comfortable with your audition song is practice! Even if you have trouble with some notes, you can still work to sound as good as you can. Make sure that your breathing is not to heavy, and practice breathing only at the ends of phrases (hint - if there is a comma or period in the lyrics, it is usually a good spot to breathe). If you find yourself switching between your head and chest voice, make sure these transitions sound as natural as possible (head voice is what you use to sing high notes - if you are not trained, it might sound soft and quiet. Chest voice is what you use to sing low notes. Google for more info). I'd recommend avoiding "belty" songs; belting is a vocal technique, and if you don't know how to do it you might sound like you are screaming or damage your voice. Also, make sure you sing loud enough that your director can hear you over the music.

Ask a friend (preferably one with singing experience) to listen and critique you. If you have access to a music or vocal instructor, ask for their help as well. Try to keep a cool head and accept their advice, even if it sounds like a criticism - don't get defensive. Remember, they are trying to help you.

Also, if you know that singing is not your strength, make sure you act while you sing. If you put personality into your song, the directors will see that you are a strong performer. Look in a mirror while you sing, and try to avoid looking uncomfortable or having an emotionless face.

On the day of your audition, drink plenty of water and eat breakfast. Try to avoid being too nervous - remember, it isn't the end of the world if this audition goes badly. Walk into the room, state your name, the part you're auditioning for, and the song you are going to sing before you start singing. If looking at the directors makes you uncomfortable, stare at the wall above their heads. Try to keep your focus in one spot - don't let your eyes dart around the room. Also, avoid the urge to walk around or make elaborate hand gestures while singing - your acting should be in your face, and other movements will be distracting.

At the end of your audition, congratulate yourself. You just worked very hard in something you haven't got much experience in, and no matter how the audition went, it was a worthwhile experience.

Keep in mind, even after all of this preparation, you may still not get a callback or a role, or even be accepted into the show. Despite your hard work, the director may still decide to cast stronger singers with more experience in musical theater. If this happens, its okay! You can walk out of your audition knowing that you performed to the best of your ability.

If you don't make it in, but still want to try performing again, be on the lookout for the next audition, and follow these same steps for that. Alternatively, you might want to look for auditions for a straight play, with no singing involved.

If you do get a callback, congratulations! Make sure to look over the callback material ahead of time and practice, like you did for auditions. Research the show - know the plot and characters, and become familiar with all of the music, especially for the roles you have been called back for. You never know what you will be asked to sing, so its best to be prepared for anything. I have had auditions where my director asked me questions about the show and the characters - don't walk into an audition not knowing what happens in the play! Hopefully, you will be cast in the show, where you will receive more vocal guidance, and have a great time with a fantastic cast!

Are there any musical theater colleges for beginners you want to do musical theater but most colleges require an audition you have no singing acting experience there was no drama club in your school?

There is no reason why you, as an inexperienced actor or singer, cannot do an audition. You may have great talent, despite being untrained. The college to which you apply might see something valuable in your audition that is worth developing. If you were already fully trained, you wouldn't need to go to college. Just do the audition and see what happens. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
