Start with twice the volume of water as rice. If you have one cup of rice start with two cups of water.
Bring the water to a boil and then add the rice. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to a very low level. Just enough heat to keep the water hot but not enough to keep it rapidly boiling. Simmer is the term.
In about 20 minutes the rice should be done. If you used too much heat or not enough water the rice will stick to the bottom of the pan.
For a littel more flavor use canned or "boxed" chicken or vegetable stock. The stock will add flavor and nutrition.
