How do you prepare the beds for a sick person?

Preparing a Raised Garden Bed

Raised Bed Garden - Depending on what you are growing choose the site (sun, part sun). Choose material for bed; wood, recycled plastic, etc. Measure and purchase material. You can find pre-made connectors and recycled materials at Garden Centers and on line. Remove any grass, weeds, etc. from growing area. Line area with weed prevention garden fabric or a thick layer of mulch. Fill with soil mixture. Soil should contain equal parts of the following: Top soil, peat moss, compost or aged manure. Add fertilizer per recommendation on box for size of bed.

The old fashioned way, you can make it raised without any boards around it this way, is to get a wheelbarrow and start by filling that with the end of one bed down abour 8-12 inches and 21/2 ft wide by 3 ft long. then loosen by digging another 10 - 12 inches the dirt in the hole, but just leave it there. Then take the next 3 ft of top soil and throw that in the first hole, adding compost, etc mixed in. Keep going on this untill your row is long enough and then take the wheelbarrow down there for the last hole. This is a lot of work, but the roots will love you for it.
