How do you prevent grass from dying where dogs urinate?

[Edit]

Prevent Dying Grass

  • Adding a little lime will help neutralize the urine and adjust the pH of your soil which along with watering will help the grass. Water that area thoroughly and the grass will come back.

  • Take if from someone who has spent hundreds of dollars on "wonder pills" THEY DON'T WORK!!!
  • Keep in mind that lime is quite potent and you may overcorrect, turning the acidic patch into an equally nasty alkaline patch. Guess why baseball fields are made of lime...grass won't grow there! If this scares you, use gypsum to more gradually correct the pH.
