I am now 37 weeks pregnant and had horrible morning sickness. I tried the crackers and dry, bland foods everyone swore by but the truth is, if it's going to come up there's not much you can do to stop it. In fact, soda crackers were the first thing I threw up and it all went down hill from there. But I did find that my body didn't really want to throw up milk. Cheese and yogurt rotted my stomache, but milk seemed alright. Ginger teas do help calm the stomach and if you can manage to keep it down, gravol is safe for pregnancy. There's another remedy that won't make you sleepy, or sleepier than you already are, and that's ginger root pills. Your doctor may prescribe you Diclectin. It was a god send for the first bit, but your body does eventually try to fight it. There is another solution that worked like a charm everytime, though it is quite controversial. You have to decide whether or not you feel it is right for you. I have many friends who swore by it and I tried it myself, finding it workes the best. If you smoke a little bit of marijuana, it really helps the nausea and increases your appetite. One or two puffs should be do you just fine. I'm not saying go out and buy a garbage bag full of pot to smoke, but in small doses like that, it poses little to no threat to the baby but some women aren't comfortable with it. Like everything else in pregnancy, you have to find what works best for you. Everyone will give you advice and there's nothing wrong with listening and trying, but remember that it's your body and your baby. Some people get very pushy. Good luck

There really isn't a way to prevent it. Some women will never experience it, and most women that do experience it only do so up to their twelfth week. There are ways to help alleviate the symptoms. Many women try eating saltine crackers right after waking up. Some try ice cold Ginger Ale, Orange Juice, or find they enjoy different varieties of fruits. If you're having a LOT of trouble with your morning sickness, you can ask your ob/gyn for a prescription to help alleviate it - they do make a medicine that helps and is safe for pregnancy. Sometimes the doctor will prescribe vitamin B6- that also helps. Speaking from experience, morning sickness sucks but there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and you will get through it. I found what helped me most was Applesauce and Dr Pepper. Good luck!

Eating crackers is one remedy for morning sickness. Eating small meals all day long is another way to keep from getting sick.
