Medication can be used to minimise convulsive seizures but if one occurs the best cause of action is to help the casualty in to a position lying down where they can't harm themselves on anything and wait for the convulsions to subside. Monitor them closely. If the convulsions last for a period of more than 10 minutes, phone for emergency help. Most of the time, people will have medication to prevent the convulsions so they will have had them before so if they are able they may feel one coming on and be able to deal with it themselves.
