The heck they do. I have just learned that after installing my pump. Fuel systems do not like air at all. If I had known better I would have let the pump run before connecting it to the fuel line. I ended up having to bleed air out of the fuel injectors. This is what I would have done different. I would have attached a hose to the pump. Then I would have turned the pump on just to get the initial fuel going into the pump(the only thing in the pump is air". Finally I would connect it to the fuel line.
