On the back of the motor head hanging from the ceiling, there will be a green button(learn button). Tap this button like a door bell **DO NOT HOLD**, then click and hold the corresponding button you want to use on your remote for 3-4 sec.
On the back of the garage door opener near the knobs for up and down pressure, is a set of 3-position dip switches. The dip switches can be hard to see since there is a set of wires that hang down and may cover the switches.
Set the dip switches on the garage door opener and inside your remote to match. Dip switches 8 and 9 in the remote must be set to the zero position. Once the switches match the remote should be able to operate the door opener.
If you have bought a universal remote, such as the Chamberlain Clicker, that has 2-position dip switches, you will have to set the dip switches on the 139.53100 to either the + or - (up or down) positions. You cannot use the zero position with a 2-position remote.
set dip switches in the remote to match the dip switch settings on the garage door opener. To set access codes on the keypad: Open the garage door. Press the 'learn' button on the opener (for less than 10 seconds) it will blink for 30 seconds.. While the opener is blinking for 30 second, Enter 1-6 digits on the keypad, then press enter on the learn button on the opener. (light on opener should blink). Test it and all remotes to ensure they didn't get erased from memory. Done.
I have a craftsman garage door opener model 139.30498. I need to know how to reprogram it since we just put in a new garage door opener.
It should be relatively simple. Try this link for a PDF of programming instructions:

Good luck.
I have Model #139.655 garage door opener. Both openers stopped working at same time. Replaced battery in one, but still does not work. Any suggestions?

the programing is unpossible, is so old this model, strach...
On my RX 350 and Craftsman opener I just pushed the memory button on the Craftsman opener briefly (the signal light came on next to the button) and released it. Then I pressed the sender in my car within 30 seconds. It wasn't long before the lights on the opener flashed and I then released the Lexus button. Didn't have to hold anything down very long at all.
