Why would youwant a vehicle manufactured by a corporation that, due to their shoddy designs, ultimately found themselves in Bankruptcy?

Dump it. wow! informative answer Einstein, next time you post an answer make sure it is correct, you really missed the boat on this one! Remove diff cover and look for small bolt with 5/16" or 7mm head holding cross shaft in gear carrier. Remove bolt, then remove cross shaft, be very careful not to spin spider gears out of carrier when cross shaft is out. Also be careful to look for and not lose shims between spider gears and gear carrier. Push axle that you want to remove all the way in and look at inner end of axle (inside of gear carrier) you will see a c-clip. Spin c-clip off with small screwdriver (pocket screwdriver size) and pull axle out. Install in reverse order.

How do you remove the axles in an 8.8 explorer rearend?

Jack vehicle up, pull off both rear tires and drums/rotors, pull the cover off of the differential (be sure to save metal tag which is on one of the bolts), rotate the diff until you see an 8mm/5/16" bolt sticking out on the side, remove bolt, remove metal cylinder, push axle in from wheel side(one at a time), remove c-shaped washer, axle should slide out. be careful to not let the splines cut the axle seal when pulling axle out. installation is reverse. be sure to use locktite on the 8mm bolt. i would recommend changing the axle seals seals a this time. be sure to fill back up w/ appropriate lubricant (fill hole is on upper front side of diff housing). also use friction modifier if you have a limited slip.

How do remove the axle out of my 1988 suzuki samurai?

pull drum off and get an axle puller. Although correct this answer assumes you mean the rear axle. If that is the case pull the drum off after removing the wheel and remove four bolts holding the axle bearing to the differential housing (on opposite side of brake backing plate) and then use a reversible hammer (axle puller) to pull the axle out from the differential axle housing.

How do you change a rear wheel bearing?

The first thing is remove the wheel, and brake assembly. Then remove the brake backing plate (that is what the brakes are mounted on), then you should be able to simply pull the axle out of the housing. The bearing is pressed on to the shaft. Take the Assembly to a shop with a press to get the old bearing off and press the new bearing on to the shaft. ------this dude is an idiot. you do not remove the break backing plate to remove a wheel bearing whatsoever. the axle MUST be removed to even pull the backing plate, which is a completely unnecessary step in wheel bearing removal/replacement. there are 2 clips within the differential holding each individual axle in place. the rear diff cover must be removed (use a drip pan to catch the 90wt gear oil in the diff) then push in axle and pull c-clip. then and only then will the axle come out. dont pull your break backing plate, as this is totally unnecessary and idiotic to even propose as a step in rear wheel bearing replacement.

How do you replace a rear axle seal for Ford F150 4WD lariat?

Pull wheel off, take caliper off, take rotor off, take rear diff cover off, pull pinion lock bolt and pinion shaft out move axle around and remove c clip, pull axle out, remove seal, check bearing, smart thing would be to replace seals and bearings on both sides, remove bearings with slide hammer rent it from local parts store. new ones will push in use old bearing against it and hammer it in then push in seal, put axle back in, clip it put pinion shaft in and bolt, put diff cover back on with RTV gasketmaker, fill up with synthetic and positrac oil if you have posi, reinstall brakes clean inside of wheel, put wheel back on
