How do you change the background color of iPhone?

it depends what you mean by background. home screen background, im guessing? if you have an iPod touch 3g or higher (this is an ipod with 32 gigs or more) then you should be able to do this with the 4.0 update. if you have a 2g ipod (8 or 16 gigs), then even with the 4.0 update, you will have to jailbreak your ipod to get this tweak. If you mean lock screen background, just go to your photos, gp to the photo menu on the pic pf your choice, and click set as background.

you have to find a background on your computer or ipod.save it.then go to pictures on your ipod. then touch the picture you want.then you will see it up close.so press the little arrow on the side and press set as wallpaper.and there you go!

You cannot change the black background on the home screens, unless you jailbreak your iPod and download the app called "Winterboard" which allows the user to place their lock screen wallpaper as a background on the home screens.

As far as your question goes, I assume you are looking to change the background from the default black to what ever you choose to either be the default background or compliment a smaller picture that does not fit the screen. With this said here are your options in desending order of difficulty.

1. I'm quite sure there are a few tweaks out there that let you change the default background color in Cydia.

2. If you can not find the tweaks you can always photoshop a picture or use paint to give it the appropriate background.

3. Lastly you can use Winterboard or some other custom springboard application to change or customize the background colors in a selected theme.

To change the background go to settings, then wallpaper. Two photo galleries will appear: a set of default wallpapers and your personal camera roll. Open either and select an image. Select "Set" to save the image as your home screen background.

This feature is available for the iPhone 4 and later. You do this by by going into Setting>"Brightness and Wallpaper" in iOS 6 or Settings>Wallpaper in iOS 4 or 5. Well, it depends what iPhone you have. I have one and for me you go to your pictures and then click options and then click make...wallpaper. TADA! Some others are different though. You have to go to setting and then wallpaper and then there is some the phone itself gives you but also there is an option to go to your photos. :) Have fun!
