Select the text right after you type it, go to Layers > Text > Convert to Shape to create a vector outline.
Right+click on the Text tool and use Horizontal Text Mask to create a selection of the text you want to type.
This is much easier to do and work with in Illustrator.

∙ 14y agoIf you are referring to a stroke, then select the font layer in the Layers palette, click on the Add a Layer Style button at the bottom of the palette (fx), then click Stroke. You will be able to choose the weight, position, and color of the stroke.
If you're referring to converting fonts to outlines for vector-based output, there is no option to do so. What you can do, however, is...with the layers intact, save the document as a Photoshop EPS, which will preserve the vector data.

∙ 11y agoRight click on Type layer and choose Convert to Shape or Create Work Path. Note: work path that will be created (outlined type) is temporary until you convert it to regular path. Double click work path, rename it and click OK in Save Path dialog.
