you can only put music on your ipod using itunes. you can store music on your ipod by dragging and dropping it into the ipod folder but to listen to the music you have to use itunes

Yes it is possible, you need to make your ipod a media drive by going onto your computer,clicking the ipod sign,selecting preferences and select use as disc drive. then using 4 simple aplications you can store and listen to songs on your ipod without using itunes but i dont got the patience to go through the step by step.
