hopefully you created back up disks when you just bought your computer and when it had it's factory settings. But also most brands have a recovery partition that they made to bring your computer back to factory settings. but some brands just have a basic partition that will just bring your software back to the last time it booted correctly.

∙ 12y agoIf you are talking about resetting the BIOS, you can usually do so by removing the CMOS battery for a minute or two then replacing it. If your laptop has a cmos reset header, you can move that jumper to reset.
If you're talking about reloading windows (or whatever came on your laptop) and you do not have a recovery disc, you can check the laptop when you power it on for somethign along the lines of "press XX for recovery or restore" and follow the instructions. This works only if the manufacturer had a recovery partition on the hard drive.
If you have no recovery disc, and there is no recovery partition, you may be out of luck. you may be able to purchase one from the mfg, but these days it's not likey. Buy windows or download Linux an do a fresh install.
