How do you quote a quote from a book in an essay?

Answer:
easy. say the quote is "he was laughing so much" when your writing your essay in any sentence write that quote.
and after the quote, in parentheses, you put the author's last name, and the page #.
Example;
-author's last name is Conner
-page # is 83
...and "he was laughing so much" (Conner 83).
REMEMBER to always put the period after the end parentheses. it looks awkward, but it's correct. if you want to continue the sentence, you just don't put the period and just put it at the end where it usually goes.
Example;
...and "he was laughing so much" (Conner 83) that he couldn't control himself.
Hope it helped!
