Once hot rollers, curling irons and blow drying came in, out went the curly hair. I have nice lightly curled hair and what I did was went back to putting my hair in rollers and if your hair dries quickly then let it air-dry and if not, sit under a hair-dryer (they can still be bought, but may be hard to find for the consumer.) I use baking soda mixed with a little water to make a thin paste and cover my hair with it. Then I use a good shampoo (from a salon) and mix that in with the baking soda and water and then rinse. The baking soda gets rid of build-up in the hair (hair sprays, gels, etc.) Also, GET YOUR HAIR CUT SHORT in a cool style. Perhaps a little spiked at the edges or a blunt cut. It's important to get dead-ends cut every so often. If you can't afford it then find a friend that is pretty good at cutting hair. You generally only have to take off 1/4" off your hair to get rid of dead ends. Use good products from a hair salon because most of the products out in the stores aren't all that good and strip your hair of oils. Coloring your hair or streaking your hair will also take the curl and bounce out of your hair. STAY AWAY from the blow dryer and curling iron. Once your hair is quite short it will start to go back to it's natural curl.
