Insert ratchet into top left corner of the idler pulley.This will release idler tension. hope this helps. Art

If you mean a 3.8L, the only one that can be released is the one near the A/C compressor. The one on top is fixed in place. It is NOT easy to do on that car

like the above answer, but it really isn't hard. just use a 11/16 wrench/socket on the bolt on the pulley and pull up . easy as pie...
