How do you remove Trojan Horse Startpage 8 bj in wC windows system32 fiealab dll? |
[Edit] |
Answer
This is not easy to get rid of but there are a couple of things you can do - 1. find and download "HiJackThis" (it's easily found with a Google search, 2. go to the URL below and have an online scan of your system. It's also a good idea to use two or three different spyware/adware/trojan removers on a regular basis. I use : Spybot S&D, Adaware6 and Aranea Spywizard. Spybot can run in your systemtray as a background shield - make sure you check regularly for updates.
Answer
I followd Davids's advice: it works.
I had Startpage.8.BJ twice, the first time AVG found and cleaned it, the second time AVG failed to notice.
Following David's advice I used HiJackThis and found and deleted a suspect key in the registry. The key goes like "BHO: (no name)..." and ends with a dll-file. The dll-file had the same time-stamp my PC got infected. It seems startpage.8.BJ uses various dll-names for infection. After deleting this key you should delete also all keys referring startpages in IE. After cleansing you can tell IE what your startpage should be.
Good luck and take care not to delete too many keys.......
