Thank you for your answer, John. I'm thinking the problem might have to do with something installed on my computer. I checked everything you said and none of it seems to be affected by Search Conduit. All my settings are as they should be. However, when I try to open many websites, Search Conduit blocks them. The page I am redirected to is entitled "Search Terms Violation" and says "This search page has been blocked due to a violation of our terms of use. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience." The page URL is http://search.conduit.com/Violation.html?unblocked=1, and at the bottom it says "trovi.com".

I'm not sure if you know how I could solve this?

You have to do multiple things. First, go into the Settings page and look at what is configured under the setting "On Startup." More than likely, it will be set to "Open a specific page or set of pages." Presuming that is the case, click on the blue link "Set Pages" right next to it. This will open a new small dialog window and you will find Search Conduit in there. When you run your mouse over it, you will find a grey X to the far right of the line. Click on that and Search Conduit will be removed from that aspect of Google Chrome. Click OK and that will close the small window so that we can get back to the Settings page. Only three more to go.

Next, look under the "Appearance" heading and you will find two check boxes with "Show Home button" probably checked. Next to it there will be a blue "Change" link. Click on that and clear the address for Search Conduit, replacing it with whatever you want (such as Google's search engine), then click OK.

Third, look under the "Search" heading and click on the "Manage Search Engines" button. You will find that Search Conduit is currently set as the default. Highlight the preferred search engine (such as Google) and click on the "Make Default" button, then highlight the Search Conduit line and click on the X at the end of its line and click OK.

Now there's only one thing left to accomplish. On the Settings page, click on Extensions on the menu along the lefthand side of the screen. In there, click on the trash can icon next to anything related to Search Conduit. This will insure that the extensions are not used by Chrome nor are they installed within Chrome. This may or may not be here (depending on how good your antivirus software is and how updated it is).

Performing these steps will get rid of Search Conduit from Chrome. However, if you have had this on your machine, you may have others as well, so you may wish to do a scan of your computer for infections or get it to someone who can do an appropriate scan of the entire machine to make sure you are clean.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this or other such issues. I am glad to help.

First you need to make sure that you have uninstalled Conduit Serch from your computer. To do this go to Control Panel and uninstall the same.

Then Open your Google Chrome and paste this chrome://extensions in your address bar and hit enter and make sure you have no extension of Conduit installed.

Then change default search engine by going to chrome://settings.

Run AdwCleaner to make sure Conduit Hijacker has been removed.

Run Malwarebytes Antimalware and Hitman Pro to remove remaining infections.
