How do you remove a swimming pool?

Answer:

Removing a Swimming Pool

I found this information on how to "abandon" a pool from the San Mateo, CA website. For some interesting information on breaking up and getting rid of an inground swimming pool, check out this link: http://home.comcast.net/%7Ephil.detweiler/PoolDemolition.html Lots of pictures of the project and answers to common questions.

Here's another link... http://www.poolremoval.net/procedure/procedure.html
This site talks about 3 ways to remove a swimming pool and gives you a cost breakdown so you can estimate how much it'll cost to remove your pool

Another good blog for general information regarding swimming pool removal is http://poolremoval.blogspot.com/ in addition to cost of removal and technique they give some helpful information relating to the impact of a swimming pool on home value *Another thought is to rethink what you actually want. Do you just not want to swim and maintain a swimming pool? You can turn it into a garden pond, by relandscaping the surrounings and introducing artificial islands for real plants to grow on and establish. You can stock it with fish , freshwater crayfish and harvest them, have frogs, etc. As it's waterproof, would it be handy to turn it into a roofed basement storage? You could do a flat roof, perhaps 1 1/2 metres higher, if the pool was shallow and if you need the space, you could rail the sides and use it for a dining area, with a reinforced flat roof - or enquire about roofing it and using it as water storage, taking all or some of your house downpipes, to use for garden watering.
