The spout is not leaking, the O ring on one of the valves are. Turn your water supply off and take the valves off and replace the O rings
Usually with a pipe wrench. If you are going to reuse it, put a towel on the end and use the wrench there. A steady pull up will usually loosen it.

Your tub spout isn't fully diverting the water to the shower head and a very small amount is leaking through. The smaller the hole the water has to exit, the greater the pressure. Replace the tub spout, usually costs less than 20 dollars.
I usually fit spout 6-8 inches above tub.
There is a rubber seal in the spout if it is missing or worn out you may have to replace to find out you may have to unthread the handle on the part where you lift up and the rest will slide out.
If it is coming from the tub spout then the gasket is moving around or esle it is shot. The easiest way to fix this is to get a new tub spout. It will more than likely take more time to attempt to change the gasket on the spout then to install a new one.

Replace the spout with one that has a place to attach the hose for the hand held.
Put a wash cloth or similar over the end and use a pipe wrench or slip joint pliers. The cloth keeps the wrench from scratching the surface of the spout.
Is more water comming out your tub spout? if so change spout
Either you don't have the knob pulled all the way, or the disc in the spout is faulty.
