I changed mine and it was tough to get at. You must unbolt the motor mounts on that side and use a floor jack to raise the engine enough to get at it and get it out. Be sure to put the floor jack in a place that won't damage the motor.

The shifter knob has a slot in the leather about halfway down. In that slot is a u shaped clip. pull it out and lift the knob as an assembly.
