on top of motor there is bleeder valve start car and bleed untill solid water comes out.
it is brass so excessive force can sheer off the bolt head.
Hi,I have a lumina 95 which just recently had an air pocket after changing a radiator hose.I was told by a friend who is a mecanic to run the heater on high (hot air)which i did while on a trip and it seems to have worked.
take off recovery tank cap.start car let run with cap off, squeeze upper radiater hose a few times until hose gets hot.to expel air.when hot check coolant level and replace cap..it will get hot when all air is out of system.
Replace the bleeder valve. On vehicles equipped with a bleeder valve it is imperative you use the bleeder to remove trapped air. No other procedure will remove all the trapped air. On cars without a bleeder, you simply remove the radiator cap and start the engine. Watch until all air bubbles have escaped. This will not be sufficient on your car. Failure to remove all trapped air, will lead to a hot spot and possible engine damage.
If it doesn't have a "bleeder" screw at the top of the thermostat housing--remove or loosen one of the heater hoses with engine running and at operating temperature and allow water to run for a couple of minutes If it has a "bleeder" screw--just open slightly and let vehicle runs for a couple of minutes
The most important use for the bleeder valve is to remove air from the braking system. As air rises and will not flush out of a bleeder mounted low on the brake the bleeder needs to be at the top.
Bleeder valve: Valve, usually operated by a wrench, to release the air from a hydraulic system EG: Hydraulic brakes or Diesel engine injection systems or Early gasoline fuel injection systems or Cooling systems or many other applications that you need to remove air from fluid systems.
Remove the wheel, the bleeder screws are on the inside on top of the caliper.
you can try using vice grips on the blleder. failing that you use an easy out. to use an easy out you drill a hloe in the bleeder and screw in the easy out. the easy out will usually remove the bleeder.only other way is to remove the slave cylander from the backing plate and try to remove in a vice.or replace the slave cylander, which will have a new bleeder valve in it
If you see bleeder valves on the cooling system use them to bleed the system. Otherwise, remove the radiator cap, turn the heater control to hot, start the engine, keep the coolant topped off, and watch until no more air bubbles are escaping.
When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap, top off with a 50/50 mix, and start the engine. This will allow air to escape from the radiator. It may also have bleeder valves located high on the cooling system. The location will be listed in your owner's manual.
