How do you remove auto body molding?

Answer

Removing 2002 body mouldings: Get a hair dryer and put it on high. Put it on the moulding until it is very hot (a couple of minutes). Slowly peel off the moulding - heating a small section at a time. Remove the residual tape with reducer.

Answer

Most modern moldings are held on with double-sided tape. I always used a sharp putty knife and very carefully ran the knife along the tape between the molding and the panel. This requires patience. If you use the hair dryer method, you must be careful not to overheat the plastic or else the paint will peel. To reapply, remove all remains of the old tape and reapply. You can get this tape at any auto parts store.
