How do you remove candle wax from carpet?

Answer

Put a big pan under the carpet and wax mess. Pour boiling water from a teapot onto the wax. The wax will melt through the carpet and land into the big pan. Fast and easy. From Bonser.

I've heard that using a hair dryer on it while scraping it with a razor blade will work, but in my own experience, it seems that cutting it out is your best option. But try the hair dryer first.

Answer

This is a method my father used while he was custodian at a church where candlelight services were common around Easter. Lay one or two paper towels over the wax. Using an iron set on low heat setting, no steam, gently iron the paper towels over the wax. If you're careful, the wax will melt and be absorbed into the towels.
You can also use brown paper bags to absorb the wax. If you use old towels or paper towels, make sure they are white or you risk dye transfer onto your carpet. Depending on the size of the spill, you may need to use several paper towels. I noticed that a thicker more absorbent towel like Viva, works better. Once all or most of the wax has been absorbed, use a cleaning brush to brush the carpet (affected area).
