there is little panel you must remove in the pocket under the door handle, there are two 7mm screws you have to take out. then take out the little plastic Phillips head screw behind the door handle. you have to pop out the little squar push pin the Phillips head screw was just in, use a pic tool. hears the tricky part, the plastic panels in these trucks break very easy so take your time but be firm when doing this, use a panel popper if you have one, go along the rim of the plastic molding hat surrounds the door handle, watch that you don't rip the leather or fabric around the piece, you have to pop that piece out so it will slide through the opening when you get the door panel off. remove the two trim pieces that run along the window, then start at one end of the panel and work your way to the other pulling on the panel until it pops free at each point. unplug the harnesses inside the panel and your done.
To remove the rear door panel in your Chevy HHR, you will need to remove the two screws located inside of the door pull cup, and there's also one in the middle of the inside door handle.
On the outer edge of the door there's also a pin the holds the panel in place, you will need to remove that. Then use a door panel removal tool to pry the door panel off of the HHR rear door.
An instructional video has also been enclosed below that shows this entire process and where everything's located.
Hope this helps,

First you remove two screws that are located in the handle well in which you open the door and then you remove one that is located in the well which you usually close the door with. There is a third screw-like thing on the part of the door that is hidden when it is closed. Remove that with a flat head screwdriver. There are around 10 or so clips that hold the panel to the door. Find a good grasp and just pull and hear the poop off. The last thing is to lift the panel up. But the handle section and window swtich section have connectors on the inside of the panel that need to be disconnected. After doing so, fiddle with the panel a bit until it comes off.
