How do you remove front brake rotors? |
[Edit] |
Remove the wheel, then the calipers (hang from the strut with a wire hanger so as not to stress the brake fluid line), and also a caliper bracket if so applied then the rotor should just slide off it's mounting to the wheel.
That is if it is a "slip-on" style rotor and also assuming that it isn't frozen to the hub. Some rotors are held on by an axle nut that is further retained with a cotter pin. Removing these will allow the whole unit to come off. Some rear rotors are more involved. Frozen ones can be removed with a hammer.
There is also the possibility of a small, usually phillip's head screw that holds the rotor in place. It would be visible on the hat of the rotor between the stud alignment. Note that this screw is usually installed and removed with a punch style driver, so it will be very tight, too tight for regular hand drivers.
