How do you remove psw.banker.2z?

[Edit]

Answer

windows 2000: after modifying sfc.dll to disbale windows file protection (not an easy task in itself) for some reason almost evey virus scanner picks this up as the signature for the banker trojan. (AVG goes as far as to stop your computer booting - to fix that go into protected mode and remove avg - even though avg is free it's a pathetic reaction and there are other free virus scanners that wont break your system.)

Getting back to the point, yes virus scanners will wrongly complain about it, unless you think you have done something to expose yourself (like using Microsoft Outlook for instance which is still a gaping security hole) you very likely arent infected.

Tips for safety: Dont ever install/run downloaded *** OR PIRATE CD *** software without scanning them first. (Once bought some cheap software CD's in Singapore - one of them was riddled with virii, but for $5 it wasn't hard to smash it and toss the remains in the bin.) The cheap CD software is rarely mentioned, for some reason people actually trust it, and thus probably a bigger threat then the net.

I've been using the internet for over 22 years (started using in uni even before it was popular), scan my computer perhaps once per year (or if other people have used it for a while) and never ever been infected not once. I never use resident antivirus scanning - slows down booting and general running. Only protection I do use is zonealarm because I do run some serber software on some of my machines and as I mentioned do scan any new software arriving on my compyte even from "trusted sources".
