To remove rust stains from fabric, lay it on paper towels. Soak the stains with fresh lemon juice (Bottled ones work too). Lay the paper towels with the fabric out in the sun to dry. the stains will disappear. Wash as normal aftewards.
If the salt has dried, scrape off as much as you can. Then rinse the clothing in hot water until the salt has dissolved out of it. If your clothing is made of a delicate fabric, read the label to see if it can handle hot water.

Salt stains on nylon boots can be removed with soap and water. The salt can also be removed by allowing it to dry and then rubbing it off.
