How do you remove the belt tensioner on a 96 Ford Taurus? In: Ford Taurus |
[Edit] |
Answer
Your first step is to remove the washer tank....then the serpentine belt. I usually do this by inserting a pry bar into the tensioner casting and pushing down ow forward to relieve tension on the belt. Once the belt is removed , simply remove the canter bolt from the tensioner housing... the tensioner will com right off. If the idler pulley is noisy , but the tensioner is strong , you may want to just replayce the pulley. Change the belt too if it look worn or old...
