there is a small retaining 'c' clip on the shaft of the handle, try to push the door card into the door slightly then you should be able to pop it off with a screwdriver or pull out with long nosed pliers.
You will probably have to remove the whole inside door panel in order to remove the handle. The panels are usually held in place with screws or plastic clips. A Haynes Manual might be helpful.

you can go to auto parts store to buy a tool to remove snap ring behind handle or you can put a clean rag in back of handle slide back and forth the rag should catch ring and pop it off! GOOD LUCK!
