First, remove the trim piece around the door handle by following these steps: (1) Find the 3 visible tabs, one at 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock. (2) starting at the rear of the trim piece, insert a steak knife between the trim and the door handle at the 9 o'clock tab to pry it away from the door handle. (3) pull the trim piece away from the door panel as you work your way forward by using the steak knife to pry the tabs away from the 12 & 6 o'clock positions. (4) the 4th tab is not accessible so gently pull the trim piece away from the panel to remove that last tab.
Remove the 2 screws in the indention for closing the door with a 9/32 socket.
Carefully remove all of the locking pins in the door. There is a special tool for this but if you are careful and take your time 2 screwdrivers will also work. Start in the lower left corner and slowly pry the panel away. You will be able to see the whit plastic pins as you are pulling away. Slide the screwdrivers on either side of the pin and carefully pry open. once all pins are released the small trim piece by the mirror needs to be removed in the same way. There is one pin only. After the trim piece is removed lift the panel up to release it from the window channel.
If you break any of the plastic pins, most auto parts stores stock them.
This is the same procedure for 95-99 Tahoes.
