Place a piece of emery paper on a hard flat surface and rub the mirror base base across the surface
It slides in the direction of the smaller end. Be sure and glue the small end up, then slide the mirror back on.
You can buy a kit from the auto parts store for reattaching your rear view mirror. The glue is not much different from super glue and you will need to get both the glass and the metal piece on the mirror mount clean before applying the adhesive. The mirror is held on to the metal mount which is stuck to the window by a small Allen screw, you need to mount the metal piece by itself as the whole mirror assembly will be too heavy to stick, then slide the mirror on to the metal piece after the glue has set.ANS 2 - Get 'Loctite Auto Mirror Adhesive" in most auto parts stores.
You have to remove the plastic piece in the inside of the car which will expose the bolts to tighten the mirror
There is a little piece of metal to which the mirror assemby attaches. Remove that from the mirror assembly, clean off the old glue then purchase some mirror adhesive from your local auto parts store. It looks a lot like super-glue, but is a little more UV resistant and holds up well on the windshield. After you've attached the little piece of metal to the windshield, let it cure for however long the instructions say, then hang the mirror assembly from the mounting piece and re-attach the mirror. If any of the glue runs down the windshield, let it dry and scrape it off using a single edge razor blade or scraper.
You may need a helper to push the shiny metal piece toward the bottom (bottom when installed) as you press that black metal tab VERY HARD away from the shiny metal piece. Use a small sturdy screwdriver. Your helper may need a screwdriver too. Normally when installed you'd push this black tab from below and slide the mirror toward the ceiling of the vehicle while pressing the tab. Don't stab yourself with the screwdriver.
depends on the year, my 96 and 97 there is a triangle shaped trim piece on the inside of the door, it is held in place by a "push-in" type clip, remove that piece and you will have access to the bolts that hold the mirror, and the electrical connector if you have power mirrors.
You first need to remove the triangle shaped trim piece inside the door opposite the mirror. It just pries out with a screwdriver. Then disconnect the electrical connections if a powered mirror. Undo the 3 bolts holding it and then remove the mirror. -RC-
With a thin round file.

A magnet
1. Remove the triangular trim piece from the inside of the door. 2. Remove the three screws that hold the mirror on. 3. Disconnect the wire connector. Reverse procedure to install.
