remove shift knob remove shift boot at the base of shift lever, there is a metal ring, push down, and turn it to the left. -there is a special tool to do this, but two flat head screw drivers work

Pop off the patern insert. Be careful if youre going to reuse it.Unscrew the nut, then unscrew the knob.
you remove the front differential and the trans. should come right out
