Be sure to deactivate the air bag before working on the steering wheel. I just disconnect both battery connections and let it set 15 minutes. Insert a flat tip screwdriver into each slot on the back of the steering wheel and twist slightly to release air bag retaining clips.Don't do this while sitting in the drivers seat, the bag might go off! Pull the bag off, release the small assurance clip then the connector will pull out of the air bag. Set it in the bed, bag side up so the cover can't become a projectile if it goes off. Pull the horn connector out of the steering wheel. Back the large bolt out most of the way on the steering wheel puller . Bolt the puller to the wheel with 2 bolts and screw the large bolt back into the puller. I tap on the wheel as I screw it in.

DISCONNECT BATTERY FIRST. Let set for about 20 minutes or so. This is to make sure no residual power left in system. Next remove air bag. Usually two screws holding it in from the back of the steering wheel. Remove the connector. There is probably a large nut. Remove the nut. Then you should be able to use some type of bolt puller or steering wheel puller to remove it.

Center the steering wheel with the wheels straight ahead. Remove the steering column trim, remove the ignition lock cylinder, remove the streering wheel. The clockspring is located under the streering wheel, and includes the ignition key-in warning pigtail. You will have to follow the wiring to the base of the column and unplug the connectors. Instalation is in the reverse order as disassembly.

How do you take out 1999-s 10pick-up steering wheel?

DISCONNECT BATTERY FIRST ! This way it makes safe the airbag so it wont hurt you if it goes off. There are screws behind the wheel you unscrew to remove the centre airbag assembly and expose the large nut that secures the wheel to the steering shaft. Remove it then you will need a steering wheel puller, (a tool you can rent from some auto parts houses and can certainly buy for around $50) to remove the wheel. Dont try and beat the wheel with a hammer, you will certainly damage the wheel and also run the risk of accidently smashing plastic dash or steering column parts, and as the wheel has been on since new, it wont come off without a puller.
