The outer shell around the stereo which includes your vents, and 4x4 switch
(if you have 4wd), and airbag switch, just pops off. Grab the top of the
shell with your fingers, and pull it off.
Look at the face of the radio and you'll see four holes, two
on each side about two inches apart. There is a special tool
that you put in those holes to release the latches that hold
the radio in (DNS tools). You can use four small screwdrivers.
Push in on one side and at the same time press outward on the screwdrivers. Now keeping pressure on the screwdrivers try pulling them straight out no
more than 1/4". Do the same to the other side and it should
come straight out. The screwdrivers have to go into the holes about 1 to 2"
they should stop when they hit the latch. When you get it out
you'll see what it looks like. If you want you can get the unlatch
tool at many auto audio shops, they are not expensive.
The DNS tools make it a lot easier. They look like
pointy croquet hoops and are only $3 or 4 a pair.
