I had a similar problem... I tried to put some songs onto my Memory Card/SD card, but it wouldn't let me and told me to remove write protection. Turns out I just had the lock switch turned on on my SD card. I unlocked it and they worked instantly.

There is usually a lock/hold switch to stop you from pressing buttons accidentally. This may also force the device to be read-only. Make sure that it is all the way back, as it may lock read-only before it locks the buttons!

Turn the HOLD button OFF and make sure the SHUFFLE button is on SHUFFLE and you will then be able to delete songs and add songs, if you use VISTA like myself right click on the icon for your MP3 player and click on open as portable device and make sure you follow the above steps and you will have no problems at all..

I had the same problem after using this product for a month, suddenly it showed the warning of write protection. I even contacted the sony customer center but to no avail. their answer was of no help at all. so here is what i did to make it work: 1) First install "QuickTime version 7.2" or later (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to register it, i.e. with a crack) 2) Then install "Windows Media Player 11 " (you can download it from torrent if you are unable to validate it, i.e. if WinXP not original) 3) Now install "Media Manager for WALKMAN" (a compatible software provided by the sony company to interact or communicate with the walkman), freely available for you to download at sony's website. After the installation, connect the walkman to your computer. Now it should easily add or delete data from you walkman using this software or without it as well.

How do you remove the 'Write protection' from a pen drive?

Most USB flash drives do not include a Write-protection mechanism, although some have a switch on the housing of the drive itself to keep the host computer from writing or modifying data on the drive. If the pen drive came with software, they may have disabled the write at the factory. If there is no switch, then it is probably not possible to write to the pen drive.
