How do you repair a moonroof in a Mitsubishi 2002 Galant that won't open and just makes noise as you try to open it?

Working on the sunroof is very hard to keep from having leaks afterward. I suggest taking it to a trim shop that has experience in this. CAll for a couple of estimates
I had the same problem,its less expensive to just get a bit bigger sunroof installed to cover the hole that was already there, so you wont have leaks or any other problems. call for estimates

∙ 8y agoIf it is still under warranty, take it to the dealer and get it replaced. It probably isn't repairable and even if it was it would never work properly. Not to mention the fact that you would have to tear apart half your interior. You'd need to take out the headliner and find out exactly where the sunroof is malfunctioning, probably the motor is missing the cables and grinding them away. Then you need to replace whatever is wrong, which entails pulling the moonroof out of the car and tearing it to pieces and then putting it back together again timed correctly.

∙ 18y agoHi Jeep put out a TSB on this item as the roof sunroof drain lines were not properly draining water due to some mechnaical problem. ∙ 9y agoClose the sun roof of the 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse and spray water on the outside of it. Carefully look on the inside to see where the water is coming in. Then reattach or replace the gaskets as needed where the water is coming in to fix the leak.

∙ 9y agoSunroof repair for a 1994 VW Golf depends on what the problem is. If the sunroof wont open or close, check the fuse, wiring, switch, and motor. If it has a leak, then look for the exact place of the leak to find the cause and replace the gasket.

∙ 9y agoHave a helper spray water around the sunroof while you look at the inside for any leaks. When the leak is found, then the area can be checked for any loose parts or gaskets that are bad and need replacing.
