It might be the sender unit, located within the fuel pump in your fuel tank.

http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=-7cY_IPCVfI&feature=relatedI have a 2001 Aurora with the 4.0 V8 and one day, right after filling up my tank, the gas gauge went straight to "empty" and stayed there. I took it to GM and they said my "fuel sending unit" had gone out, along with whatever sensor it has on it. They replaced both in about 4 hours and 450$ and it fixed the problem. Still works fine today over 2 years later.
you need to replace the gas gauge sending unit in the tank, or your gauge is broken
Either a leak, bad gas gauge, poor driving habits. We really need more info. Before and after MPG?
Unlike the previous year 2000 model that required Premium fuel, the 2001 Aurora V6 & V8 both can run on Regular.
are you sure it is not the sending unit
Get it repaired at your local car repair shop.

Because it's an oldsmoble and Delphi made the parts that are installed on your car. It's something that we've all come to terms with a long time ago. Enjoy your Chevy.
Most likely it is the fuel level sender in the fuel tank. I have seen many of them go bad. the tank will have to be dropped to do this
18 to 18.5 us gallons
The northstar engine were remodified to take regular unleaded.I use thw mid in my 01 aurora.
The gas gauge and fuel pump are on two separate circuits tand both go inside the gas tank. The gas gauge usesf a float that moves a resistor according to fuel level. Gas gauges. When you experiewnce the gas gauge not working at all I would look for a disconection external to the tank first. If you cna send six volts from the tank sender to the gauge this should cause the gauge to read. If it does then you know the problem is with the sending unit and it must be removed from the tank to repair or replace.
