It's a fairly simple job. The tensioner is secured by a single nut on the stud that goes through the mounting bracket. There is very little room to get to this nut and it's easiest to access if you remove the wipers and wiper tray, the plate that goes between the alternator bracket and the engine and the alternator.
what size engine
You can replace the timing belt on a 1998 Plymouth Breeze 2.0 engine using a Harmonic Balancer Puller 5.
Remove surpentine belt, then take out bolt that goes through tensioner to engine.
Most of them move some but if your belt is squeeling you probably need to replace the tensioner.
If the tensioner isn't working right, you replace it. Tension is determined by the tensioner and is not adjustable.
The belt is self adjusted by way of a tensioner.
Tensioner should be removable and replaceable by single mounting bolt are you referring to the belt tensioner on engine?if so. remove tensioner, buy a new one, and replace. this is not a big job. you will also need to replace belt at same time
Remove belt and tensioner complete should be able to be unbolted from engine (Left-hand thread)
Need to know which engine you have.
take the bolt out that holds it to the engine and it will come off.
It is really simple. First you remove the belt by using the correct tool whether it is a certain sized wrench or a socket wrench. Then you unbolt the tensioner from the engine. There is usually only one bolt that holds the tensioner to the engine. Instalation is the reverse of removal.
There's a 15mm nut on the back of the tensioner you have to remove. It's hard to find and a tight spot but a regular wrench will get it out.
