How do you replace distributor cap 1990 Volvo 740 station wagon. I am doing this myself so I really need specific advice. Thank you so much as I am a busy MOM who needs car that starts after it rains?

First, do not remove the plug wires. The distributor cap will either be held in place with snap clamps or with 2 screws. If clamps just use a flat blade screwdriver to pry them loose. If screws then unscrew the screws by turning counterclockwise. Once you have the cap off remove the wires one at a time and transfer to the new cap connecting them to the exact same location on the new cap. Do them one at a time as to not get them mixed up. Replace the cap exactly as the old cap was orientated. I would also recommend you replace the rotor at the same time.
