This install is on an N14 Cummins engine that is in an a 2000 Kenworth W900B and with a 91N14 type of water pump.

You must first close the 2 valves for the 2 heater hoses at the pipe to the water pump. Drain the radiator from it's antifreeze. Once that is done, undo the Rad support rods from the frame to the radiator on both sides of rad. Tilt the radiator slightly towards the front of the truck. Remove the fan bolts then the fan. Undo the air line to the clutch fan. Now undo the 4 nuts for the clutch fan hub and remove it. In some cases you might want to loosen the alternator and remove the belts and tilt it back out of the way. Remove the 4 bolts from the side of the water pump and then move away the pipe that fits to it. remove the 6 bolts from the face of the water pump. once the bolts are removed if needed, give a slight tap tap on the water pump to free it from the engine block. It is a good idea to spray some lube into where the pipe sits in the top of the water pump as it is only held by pressure and an o-ring. It is a good idea to replace that o-ring. Place water pump on work bench.

Now inspect area as to where the water pump sits. make sure there are no marks from the impeller where it spins in place. Clean off any old gaskets by scraping away the bulk of it. Use a mild wire wheel or abrasive pad on a drill or dremell to clean down any signs of old gasket. Make sure not to let particles fall into water ports. once all is done, wipe down area with thinner to remove any dirts.

You must take the idler pully from the old water pump to install on the new one. You will need a 1-1/16 socket to remove the large nut on the backside of the idler pulley. Remove the adjusting rod bolt. Install idler pully onto new pump in reverse order.

Place gasket onto water pump and re-install into place. Use the proper torque sequence and setting (consult your local cummins dealer) to tighten down the 6 bolts to the water pump and the 4 bolts on the side as well. Re-open the 2 valves for the heater hoses. Re-install the clutch fan hub and adjust belts to proper tension. Re-connect air line to clutch fan. re-tention alternator (if loosened). Re-install fan onto clutch fan hub. Use the proper torque sequence and setting (consult your local cummins dealer) to tighten down the bolts to the fan. Re-connect the rad support bars to the radiator.

Before filling radiator, test the anti-freeze with test strips or a gauge to make sure it is in good condition. when done, pour existing or new anti-freeze into radiator untill block and radiator are filled. Start engine and run untill it reaches normal operating tempurature. Keep looking to see if anti-freeze level drops. If so, add what is needed to maintain the proper anti-freeze level. When all is done place rad cap back onto tank.

I hope this helps. These are the steps I took when replacing my water pump.
