How do you replace sway bar links on a 2003 Galant?

Answer:

The strut links are bolted to the strut at the top and to the sway bar on the bottom

Here are the steps:

1. Remove wheel

2. Place hex key (allen wrench) in the hex shaped recess on the ball stud to hold in place

3. Using a box wrench, loosen nut on each end of the link.

4. If the hex recess strips or cannot get rusted parts loose, heat up the sides of the cups on the top and bottom of the links. The factory joints are made of plastic and heating will allow you to reomve the link to get access to both sides of the stud for easier removal. If you cannot break loose at this point, you can cut the stud to remove.

5. Installation is much easier, just insert the studs in both mounting points and install the hex nuts. Many of the aftermarket links have a hex shaped ball stud to allow the use of a wrench to hold the stud while tightening the nuts. If the links are the greasble type, install grease fittings before installing on the car!

6. Now that the link is mounted, use a wrench to position the grease fittings in an accessable position and grease. Apply grease until the boots are "full", no need to have grease squeeze out of the boots.

7. Install wheel and test drive.
