How do you replace the alternator belt on a Chrysler Cirrus?

[Edit]

Answer

This refers to a 1995 6 cylender with AC; 1. usual safety step. Tranny in park, Emergancy break on. (chok wheels if your real safety minded.)

2. Raise passenger side front of vehicle. Remove the right front tire and support the car with a jack stand.

3. Remove the fender lining. (it goes horivontal under the front fender also) Youmay need to get some of the plactic replacemnet pugl used to hold it on? Autozone O'Riely, Pep Boys, even Wal Mart would have them.

4. losen the main Power Steering pump bolt (1- 1.5 turns.)

5. losen the Adjustable bolt on the Power Steering belt bracket. (one with a curved slot in it.)

6. Remove the PS belt.

Locat the ideler pully. ( between the Alternator on top and AC compressor on bottom) 7 Losen the idel wheel bolt. (it point forward toward the front bumper)

8 Losen the 'big bolt' in the middle of the pully.

9. Slide the whole Pully/Tension Screew toward the front. (be careful the belt will fall in your face sometimes.

Say a cheers for me when you celebrate the christening of the new belt.
