Alternator - removal and installation. (1)disconnect the negative cable from the battery (2)remove the air cleaner assembly to gain easier access to the alternator (3)unplug the electrical connectors from the alternator (there are three) and remove the electrical connector bracket, if equipped (4)remove the drive belt by loosening the automatic belt tensioner (use a 3/8th inch drive ratchet and insert into the 3/8th inch square hole on the upper part of the tensioner. rotate counter-clockwise to loosen) (5) remove the three bolts holding the alternator to its mounting bracket (6)installation is the reverse of removal. - Haynes Repair Manual Ford Ranger 1993 - 2005.
