How do you replace the fuel filter on a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport? |

The fuel filter is located on the underside of the body at the drivers door side, to replace the fuel filter you will need a kit with plastic sleeves that spread out the fingers holding the filter on. The plastic sleeves have a notch to be able to put on the fuel line just before the filter (both sides front and back) and you slide the plastic spreaders in towards the filter you will feel the tension of the fingers as they spread apart then move the filter forward a little then back this should release the filter. Repeat for the other end. Most parts stores have a kit of different sizes. My explorer took more than one or two tries but finally came off.
