Wife's, '06 Chrysler, 300 T... Heater controls no longer backlit... can't see the controls at nite; What to do? How do I get new bulbs... The dealer want $$$ to fix it... I'm told the avg. guy can't do it and you need to replace the entire module...
By the looks of the forums, I'm not the first one with this problem.
Well, the knobs and controls are backlit by (3) 14V, T1 ½ mini, wire terminal, lamps.
The lamps are soldered on a PC brd that has the temp and heater/air duct direction control.
With a little research, I found the lamps are made by Toshiba. OEM supplied only, you cant buy 'em... They have a 1000hr life... However, the folks at Bulb Town in FL (bulbtown.com) will sell you a T1 1/4 p/n #8640 or if you want to risk the tighter fit, T1 3/4. 14V, .08A #2162D... The bigger bulb worked for me.
Remove the bad bulbs and replace w/ new ones. Be careful with the dash and the soldering and you'll have lights back on your dash in about 40mins total. Lamps are .70 a PC plus shipping. I bought a couple extras, just in case.
Here's how... You gotta be careful with the dash and the plastic clips, they aren't all that tuff and can snap if your not subtle but gentle.
Good luck...
I got a few pic if you need addit. help
you can't replace the lights they are built in to the control head.you must replace the entire hvac control
You can replace the balls in the heater control panel on an XS ARA Picasso by removing the front cover of the heater control panel. The panel lights will then be visible.
You can't just replace the lights you would have to replace the whole control cluster.
Why does my heater control lights flash on an off on my 1990 Z71
take off your dash bezel that stretches from your gages past your radio then remove the heater control box and it will be on the back twist it out and replace your bulb for around $1.00.
they cant you would have to go to the main control panel (fuse box) and you would have to replace the fuse
This is for the Heater/Fan/Cooler lights. To replace the bulbs remove the control knobs by pulling them off, the front panel can be pulled off using a small screwdriver, pry it off on the right side then remove the clear diffuser panel and twist and pull the small bulbs out. There are 2 bulbs for that heater knob control. (bulb # 90069-98004)
Because it is hot and the heat is making the metal spark.
You would need to pull out the heater control panel to get at the bulb holders. Some of the bulbs are micro-bulbs that are actually inside switches. Unless you are skilled at disassembling small electronics and soldering small parts, replacing these might not be practical.

If you're talking about the bulb that lights the area with the heat/AC control knobs, they explain it really well here: http://www.volkswagentalk.com/dash-%28heater-switch-lights-%29-replace-t1093.html If that's not the right light, sorry.
The body computer is in control of the interior lighting.
