Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from radiator. Remove the air intake cover and tubing to provide better access to the thermostat. Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine to find the thermostat housing secured to the engine by two 10mm bolts. You will also need to remove an additional 10mm bolt that secures a bracket to the thermostat housing. Remove housing and make note how thermostat is installed in housing with the spring side toward the engine, and the two gasket notches matching notches in the engine. Clean both surfaces completely. Install new gasket around the thermostat, ensuring the arc in the gasket matches the pressure relief hole in the thermostat. Secure housing evenly to engine. Open the 12mm coolant bleed valve on the thermostat housing a half turn and refill the radiator. Close the bleed valve when coolant is smoothly exiting the valve. Start engine and check for leaks. Bring engine up to normal operating temperature with heater on, and then re-check coolant level.
