Easy, The flasher is the hazard flasher switch in the dash {the one with the red triangle}

The switch pops out and you unplug and buy a new one 50.00 on the internet.

My 98 the switch easaly pries out with a small blade, the article I read had you pop off the dash trim. I did not need to.

Keep in mind: Hazard Flasher Switch from VW Passat can be used as well, and It's way less expensive, it's about 15 - 20 USD vs. 50 $ for the Audi one.

All you have to do is use a blade as indicated above, pry the cover off the switch to expose the connection below. Then use a needle nose plier to gently pull the switch out, along with the harness. Remove the harness from the old switch and attach to the new one, should work first time. You don't have to remove any paneling along the dash. I have replaced mine now twice, known problem with VW Passat & Jetta!
