The water pump on a Ford temp can be a bit of a pain in the butt. To get at the water pump you must get at it from the botton of the car. First thing you need to do is losen the tesnsion on the drive belt for the water pump. this can be done by lostening the large bolt on the back of the idler pully and then lostening the tension on the belt with the second sideways scre on the pully. once the belt is out of the way their are three main bolts that need to be removed to take the water pump completely out of the way. Once the bolts are off you must struggle to work the ewater pump out from under the car. The new water pump is just as fun to mount, I found I had to leave the pully off to get the pump in place. The gaskett is a real pain to put in place I had a friend hold the gasket from the top of the car when I installed the pump Getting the puly bolts in place is also a real pain. It is about a 2 to 3 hour job, I hope to never do it agian. If you can get it done for $100 or so pluss pats I would jump at the chance, its one of fords worst designes and is not really made for the do-it yourselfer.
I agree,it is a real pain.If your Tempo has A.C. it helps a lot if you move one of the hoses out of your way.But keep in mind doing so means evacuating and recharging the system. Also you have to first remove the inlet tube and housing from the pump to be able to remove the pump.Good luck
